Length: 77K words, complete

Lacey Warren is counting the days until she can escape her squabbling family and start on her chemistry major at a faraway college. But those plans are derailed when she and her brothers are kidnapped by honest-to-god trolls. Trapped in a world of magic, Lacey discovers that her bitterly divorced parents are a witch and a demon, and, more impossibly, are working together to find their children. She’s not holding out hope for a rescue, though. Lacey might not know anything about magic, but she does know science, and she knows it’s up to her to get everyone home safely.

The Rowntrees have been the personal enchanters for the English royal family going back to the Tudors. Unfortunately, eldest daughter Claudia possesses no magic whatsoever. When a childhood friend proposes marriage, she accepts mainly as a way to escape the family legacy. Bridget Seward, trying to clear the debt on her family’s farm after driving an ambulance in the Great War, is hired to accompany her to her new home in Italy. But they soon learn that there’s a price on Claudia’s head, and must evade their pursuers through the countryside.
